The Organizers

About

For 35 years, Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory has brought together wildflower enthusiasts and nature lovers to showcase the beauty and diversity of flora in Central Oregon. A long standing partnership with the High Desert Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Oregon along with dedicated partners and volunteers have made this event something to buzz about.

After taking a break last year, we are excited to be bringing the festival back in full bloom with these amazing local organizations on our planning team.

Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory

For over 50 years, Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory (SNCO) has been a cornerstone of education and scientific exploration in Sunriver. Nestled on an eight-acre campus that is home to both the Sunriver Nature Center and the Sunriver Observatory, we offer immersive learning experiences that connect visitors to the wonders of the natural world. Our campus features a unique confluence of pine forests, wetlands, and meadows that form a rich ecological tapestry for exploration, discovery, research, and reflection.

High Desert Chapter of the NPSO

Since 1961, members of the Native Plant Society of Oregon have been visiting the wild places of Oregon to enjoy, conserve and study its natural vegetation. Founded in Portland, NPSO has grown to a statewide network of a dozen regionally-based chapters adding up to more than 800 members.

Pollinator Pathway Bend

Pollinator Pathway Bend is a community-wide effort to create and connect pollinator habitat in the city of Bend (and beyond!). Basey Klopp began the pathway with a small group of volunteers in 2020, working with local businesses and the city and parks departments to get over 1000 plants in the ground that first year. There are many ways to get involved with Pollinator Pathway Bend. From volunteering to plant or pull weeds to creating your own pollinator garden or advocating at community events, we welcome all levels of expertise and enthusiasm.

Worthy Garden Club

Beginning as a small organization offering education in sustainable gardening, Worthy Garden Club has grown to include the only professional observatory within Bend’s city limits, a small-scale regenerative farm and native plant gardens that serve as classrooms for natural science education. We offer free or low-cost programs that educate our community on astronomy topics, dark sky practices, native pollinator conservation and sustainable food growing. Our employees serve on local boards as active advocates for these chosen causes, bringing about positive changes to maintain livability in the High Desert.
